The Department of Finance at DePaul University is comprised of 26 full-time faculty members and a handful of adjunct and clinical professors. We offer courses and curricula supporting both the Undergraduate and the Graduate programs offered through the Kellstadt School of Business .
Most of the faculty has had significant work experience in key corporate positions prior to joining DePaul. Many are renowned scholars within their field of research and enjoy national and international reputations. Among them are former CEOs, authors of path-breaking research articles and widely adopted textbooks, and editors of highly respected academic journals. Most of the faculty have either worked or taught abroad through many international programs offered by the department including those in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and South America .
In support of the college's undergraduate programs , the Department of Finance provides a curriculum, which enables all students in the College of Commerce to acquire a basic understanding of the public and private financial processes. It provides a strong foundation for students with career goals related to corporate financial management, investment analysis and management, risk management, management consulting, real estate, banking and other financial institution administration.
Students with a junior standing and a minimum GPA of 3.3 may qualify for admission into the Honors Program in Finance . The program emphasizes teamwork and active learning. It consists of a set of honors only courses designed to strengthen the student's analytical and communication skills.
In support of the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business the department offers a concentration in Finance within the MBA program. In addition, the department offers a concentration in Financial Analysis for those desiring to pursue the CFA® designation. A Master of Science in Finance (MSF) is also offered for those who desire an in-depth curriculum for jobs requiring highly analytical capabilities.
Our graduate programs are best characterized as cutting edge and dynamic with a reputation of achieving the right balance between theory and application. These curricula are delivered by the dedicated, well-trained, nationally recognized financial economists and executives-in-residence who make up our faculty.
The department is home to the Scholl Chair in Corporate Finance and the Richard H. Driehaus Center for Behavioral Finance .
DePaul Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Research Seminar
The department and the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago jointly sponsor a research seminar in which distinguished scholars are invited in to present their research.
